SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:
MIC INSTALL
Plug mic into USB slot on computer. Powered USB hubs may be used but if any
installation problems occur, please use USB ports located on computer itself.
(some USB hubs do not supply required voltage) Always have the microphone
connected and the switch on the microphone turned to the "ON" position
BEFORE starting game. Once game is running, you can make adjustments to the
microphone by selecting "Options" from the main menu. Possible options
include mic output volume, mic boost which increases the input and output
volume, chorus, reverb, sensitivity levels, and more. Move the mouse cursor
over each option to see additional tips. Note: Popular USB microphones are
supported including the Heavenly Harmony Gold USB microphone.
Although not "officially" supported, some computers may also support the use of 1 standard 3.5mm microphone. This feature was added so owners of the original Heavenly Harmony game can use their hand-held microphone or their headset. To use this type of microphone, you must connect the mic to the primary mic input on your computer. (this varies with computers but it could be the front or the rear mic input) We also suggest turning the mic boost on. Mic boost can be found on the Options screen. Because of the many different types of sound cards, microphones and computer configurations, this feature may not always be available.
MIC USE
Place the microphone close to your mouth and sing directly into the top portion
of the microphone, directly down into the microphone. The Heavenly Harmony
USB microphone is specifically designed to not pick up ambient noises including
the background music. For best performance, try not to sing into the side
of the microphone. Sing directly into the top of the microphone, singing down
into the body of the microphone. If a microphone switch is turned to the "OFF"
position while playing the game, you can turn the microphone back on by sliding
the switch to the "ON" position and then going to the "Options"
screen from the main menu. There, you can select the "Find Mics"
button so the game can see the microphone again. (It's advisable to tell players
to not turn the switch on/off while playing.)
There will be some delay when singing into your computer and having your voice feed back out into your speakers. This can be minimized by selecting the 'mic buffer' setting on the 'Options' page. Select the fastest setting your computer will accept without producing noise or distortion when you speak/sing into the mic.
SELECTING NUMBER OF PLAYERS
When the game starts, it will detect how many USB microphones are installed
and indicate this by lighting the appropriate number of microphone icons on
the main menu. It will dim the remaining icons. To select the number of players,
select the appropriate microphone icon 1, 2,3 or 4 . The blue circle around
the microphone icons represents the number of players currently selected.
DRESSING ROOM
Select favorite clothing articles by pressing the red buttons. Press the red
buttons multiple times for additional fabrics/patterns. Unlock more options
by performing well in 'Perform Song' mode and in the Lessons.
Lead, Harmony & Backup
On selected songs, each player can choose to sing as either the lead singer
or as a harmony/ backup singer. Click the "Harmony" button in the
song selection screen to view all songs that have this feature available.
Now select which song you would like to perform in the song list, then select
the button towards the top for lead or towards the bottom for Harmony/backup.
Each player can choose the part they want to sing. Many combinations are possible!
4 players on lead, 4 players on harmony, 2 on each, 1 lead, 3 harmony, etc...
You can get a rough idea of how difficult the vocals of a song are to sing
by looking at the difficulty level shown on the song information banner. Each
time you select a different song, you will see this banner change to show
the artist and difficulty level for that song. There are 4 levels of difficulty:
easy, medium, hard and extreme.
VOCAL LESSONS
(mic must be plugged in to access this area)
Play games that help you improve your pitch, timing and stamina. Help Peter
unload his fishing boat by moving a basket back and forth using only the pitch
and volume of your voice. Be the first to race across the finish line by sustaining
a very long note and holding the tune as accurately as you can, and more!
PERFORM SONG
Sing into the microphone as your favorite Christian music plays in the background.
When the lyrics reach the orange vertical bar, sing the words. The lyrics
are placed on an actual music score. The correct note is also displayed to
the right of the performance meter while the note you are actually singing
is displayed to the left. Sing the corect note at the correct time and sparks
will fly. Sing the correct note anytime during the note duration and the pitch
meter will glow. Your progress is monitored by the performance meter which
is centered just below the 3D window. As you hit notes, the meter rises but
as you miss notes, the meter falls. See if you can get out of the shower!
Change the console style by left-clicking and dragging the mouse up or down while positioned over the console knob. Change the master volume using the same method. To turn off the lead vocals, select the vocal mixer knob and drag down. Select 'No Pros' on the 'perform song' console to turn off all professional singing and music so you and your friends can star in your own band!
SINGING TIPS
Learn to watch the volume bar as you sing. This can affect the accuracy of
your pitch meter. If you sing too soft (or the microphone is too far from
your mouth), then no one will be able to hear your beautiful voice over the
background music and your score may not be recorded! If you sing too loud,
then your voice may not be clear. (clipping and noise may be introduced into
the speaker playback) The ideal volume for recording will have your volume
bar staying between 1/2 volume and 3/4 volume. To do this, you must learn
how to modulate your volume using 1 of 2 methods.
1) Learn to control your singing volume
by taking deep breaths and controlling the exhale.
2) Learn to move the microphone closer and further away from your mouth as
you sing. As you sing lower, you may
tend to sing softer, so move the mic closer to your mouth, watching the volume
bar as you do this. As you sing higher pitches, most people tend to sing louder;
therefore move the microphone away from your mouth, watching the volume bar
to determine how far to move it. Practice, practice, practice!
OPTIONS
There are a variety of game, mic and system related options in this screen.
More information can be viewed by hovering the mouse over each option.
UNLOCKING VENUES, CLOTHING AND INSTRUMENTS
Unlock clothing and venues by scoring silver, gold and platinum records with
different songs as a vocalist or by achieving high percentages with your instrumental
performances. The last two venues can only be unlocked by scoring a platinum
record with the PRO difficulty level turned on for vocalists or by a near
perfect instrumental performance on the hard levels. Performing well with
the voice lesson games will also unlock venues. Instrument choices are automatically
unlocked as additional venues are unlocked.
PLAYING INSTRUMENTS
Using the computer keyboard
To play an instrument using your computer keyboard, press the 'Perform Song'
icon from the main menu to advance to the song selection screen. You will
see instrument icons on the bottom left of the screen indicating guitar, bass
and drums. To use your computer's keyboard to play an instrument, select the
left keyboard icon to play guitar or bass, or select the right keyboard icon
to play the drums. Note: Computer keyboard play for each device is disabled
if game controllers are detected.
Drums - Y,U,I,O,P
Guitar/Bass - Z,X,C,V,B + Down Arrow
Game controller setup
JAMband will work with virtually any type of USB gaming device.* Install your
gaming controllers by inserting the USB plug of your controller(s) into an
available USB port(s) on your computer. Anytime you install a different controller,
you will need to go to the 'controller setup' screen. When your buttons are
mapped correctly, you should be able to play the notes in ascending order
and hear ascending tones played over your speakers. If any tone is out of
order, try the setup again.
Controller setup step by step instructions
*Please make sure your controller's licensing agreement does not prohibit you from using your controller on a different game or system.
Tips:
> When setting up the port, you may need to hit various colored buttons
on your controller to hear a sound.
> When setting up 2 controllers, hit buttons on both controllers to see
which controller to set up first.
> If you have plugged in a controller while the game is running and the
game is not detecting it, exit the game, make sure the controller(s) is plugged
in, then restart the game.
When using the manual setup, please follow the on-screen directions precisely,
then exit to save your configuration. The next time you start the game, you
shouldn't have to adjust the controllers until the next time you remove or
install a different device. For best results, only have two controllers plugged
in at any one time.
Troubleshooting game controllers (device
not detected in Windows)
* NOTE: Some game controllers will require internet access in order for the
WindowsTM operating system to automatically locate the required drivers. Depending
on which controller you have and which operating system you are running, the
controller may need to be calibrated before using it. Most of the time, this
is not necessary. If the game recognizes the controller, then no calibration
is necessary. If the game does not recognize the controller, or asks you for
the drivers, click cancel, then perform the following.
Go to ...
> Start (lower left portion of your Windows screen)
> Control panel
> Game Controllers
> Select the controller
> Select Settings
> Calibrate (follow directions as shown on screen)
Start the game. If your game controllers are detected, a controller setup
screen will appear allowing you to configure your controller(s). When beginning
controller set up, you can change port assignments by selecting the "change
port" button next to the associated controller. Simply hit several buttons
on your controller to determine if you have the correct assignments. (If you
hit a button on a guitar and a drum sound occurs, then change the port until
the correct sound is heard. You may need to try pressing different buttons
on the controller if no sound is heard after cycling through all the ports.)
GAMEPLAY
You can choose to play guitar, bass, or drums on the song selection screen.
You can choose the difficulty level easy, medium or hard by pressing the appropriate
icon.
The object is to play the notes at the correct time as they stream towards
you. The keys to hit for each button are mapped above. If using a USB gaming
controller, you should see different colored buttons matching the notes on
screen. When the notes hit the timing bar, hit the correct key on the computer
keyboard or colored button on the game controller. If you are playing the
guitar/bass parts, then you will hit the correct key + the down arrow on your
keyboard or if using a gaming controller, the colored buttons as well as the
strum bar at the same time. If you are playing drums, press the Y through
P keys on your keyboard or strike the pads on your drum controller. As an
example, the far right button (orange) is your kick pedal. Press the 'P' key
or step on your kick pedal when the orange buttons reach the timing bar.
While performing a song, you can mix the audio levels by using the mouse or
by pressing the buttons (generally the 'start', "back" buttons)
on your guitar and drum controllers to turn the 'Master Volume' up/down or
select the on-screen up/down arrows with the mouse. The music track can also
be adjusted by turning the master volume knob up and down using the mouse.
Confident players can select the "No Pros" button while performing
a song to hear only their singing and instruments.
NAVIGATION
The player1 guitar controller can be used to quickly move forward and backwards
through the 'perform song' menus.
Forward = Green button + Strumbar down
Backwards = Red button + Strumbar down
SCORING
Points are calculated based on hit bonuses and sustain notes for guitars.
Watch the meter to determine how well you are doing. Score 2X and 3X points
by performing well. Points are deducted for incorrect hits. "Total notes"
calculations include deductions for bad notes so avoid these!
If you are a single player, simply create your singer player profile from
the main menu. This name will be used for singing or playing either instrument.
If there are multiple players and a high score is registered, the player will
be asked to enter their name. This name will be recorded as the highest score
for that song and instrument. High scores can be viewed for singing and the
instruments at the High Score screen found on the main menu.
UNLOCKS
Unlock venues, clothing and instrument styles by scoring a high percentage.
The percentage required to unlock venues increases the further you progress
in the game. The first few venues can be unlocked by scoring 90% or above
in easy mode using either guitar, bass or drum play. The later venues can
only be unlocked by scoring 98% and above playing the hard difficulty levels.
Instrument choices are automatically unlocked as additional venues are unlocked.
TROUBLESHOOTING
NOTE: The number one cause of problems when running JAMband are outdated drivers. Please update your computer by downloading the latest audio and video drivers for your computer. These can generally be found on your manufacturers website under 'drivers' or 'downloads'.
Instrument tempo bars not lined up > There are a handful of songs that have variable tempo throughout the song. This causes the notes to not be lined up with the original tempo bars. The buttons should still be in the correct place even though they are not lined up with the tempo bars. This is due to using the original live recordings for songs where there may be tempo variations throughout the song. Most songs have a steady tempo which is why the tempo bars line up perferctly with the instrument notes.
No sound > If using a Heavenly Harmony Gold microphone and the microphone driver is not installed, Windows will change the default playback device to the microphone which will require you to manually change the device back to your originally configured default playback device. You should only have to do this one time for each USB port you connect the mic to. After that, Windows will remember your settings.
If you do not hear sound, perform the following steps to restore sound for your computer.
> Go to "Options"
> Select "Control Panel"
> Select "Audio" tab
> Under "Sound Playback," select the appropriate "Default
device" (It should NOT be 'SSS USB Headphone Set' If it is, select the
appropriate audio playback device for your computer.)
> You should now hear sound. If you don't and the above items were followed,
then you may need to reboot your computer to see the changes.
Errors stating the game cannot open a file > Make certain you have administrator privileges when installing the game. Game must be able to read and write to your hard drive to store game data.
Lyrics out of sync > This is caused by one of two known issues. Outdated drivers or running the game while iTunes is open. If iTunes is running on your computer, you must close it before running this game. The only other known cause is outdated audio drivers. Please update your audio drivers to the most recent version.
* At the time of game release, the bass recording for 'You Get Me' was not available from the recording studio. We apologize for any inconvenience. If it becomes available, we will release it in a patch.

Playing your family oriented computer games on the TV located in the family room is a wonderful thing! It's generally a very easy thing to learn how to do. Like many things, after the first time, it's a piece of cake!
Step 1 - Change the resolution on your computer
To make the process easier, it is recommended that you manually change the resolution and refresh rate of your computer's desktop before connecting to a TV. You can do this by simply right-clicking on the background or your desktop and choosing "properties" or the specific application for your video card. The resolution to set your computer to is dependent on the resolution of your TV. (consult your TV manual). A good starting point and a resolution that should work for the majority of TV's is 1024X768. Be certain to also change the refresh rate to 60 Hz as well.
Step 2 - Determine your connectors
Look at the back of your computer and determine which output options your specific computer has available. Possibilities include: HDMI, DVI, VGA or S-Video for video. Audio is simpler in that it's almost always a 3.5mm audio output on the computer and two RCA jacks on the TV (white/red). The goal is to find the same type of video connector on your PC and your TV. Below are pictures to help you determine your connectors.
VIDEO

Typical 3.5mm to dual RCA jack stereo cable

VGA

S-VIDEO

DVI

HDMI
AUDIO
The most common type of video connectors are VGA for computers and S-Video for TV's. If you do not have the same type of connectors for both the TV and computer, you can purchase a VGA to S-Video adapter.
Step 3 - Locate and connect cable
Once you determine which type of connectors you have that are common on both the PC and your computer, you now know what type of cable you need to connect them. You may find that your computer came with the right cable or you may need to run to your favorite electronics or computer store and purchase it. (VGA, S-Video, DVI or HDMI cable) Plug one end into your PC's output and the other end to your TV's input. For the audio, you will need a 3.5mm to dual RCA jack stereo cable. The 3.5mm jack plugs into your computer's audio output jack. You can also use the headphone out jack. The other end is the red and white RCA jacks and they go into the AUDIO INPUT that is associated with the video input you just connected.
Step 4 - Select TV input
Turn your computer and TV on. Use the controls on the front or side of your TV or it's remote to change the source or input. (on your TV it should say TV/Video, source, input, etc...) Cycle through until you reach the input type of your connection.
Step 5- Presto!
When you select the correct input, you should now see and hear your computer displayed on your TV.
If the issue is not addressed, please email Technical Support at the following address and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
